Trucking industry is one of the most important industries in Canada. Almost every single thing that we see in our surroundings has been on a truck at some point. If all trucks stop for a few hours, there can be shortage for many things in grocery stores and around. But, general public has very little knowledge about trucks and those operating trucks.

Many people find trucks to be a problem on roads because trucks are big and slow. This is mainly due to the lack of knowledge. In Ontario, when obtaining a car driving license, there is barely any information about trucks and even about road-sharing with trucks. If this changes, many lives can be saved and there can be a possibility of having a better traffic flow on the roads.

Trucking industry isn’t important because of the type of service it provides it is also a big contributor to the Canadian economy. Trucking companies generate huge revenues. Plus, there are many other businesses associated with trucking. Many jobs depend on this trade for example truck mechanics, truck stops and truck parts businesses.

When driving on the road, we should all know that trucks are slow because they are heavy. We should also show respect to them because they are working hard to make sure we, the consumers, have supplies for our kitchens and other aspects of life.

Truck driving is a very sacrificing job. Many truck drivers end up spending days and weeks in their trucks. They deal with all kinds of weathers and road conditions. But, this profession is not known to the public on the level it’s supposed to and it’s mainly because of the lack of education. And, this is why for the most part, truck drivers are looked down upon.

Provincial governments in Canada should take further steps to add more and more information about trucks in the initial knowledge tests of car driving. This can help safe many lives and make our roads a safer place for everyone to drive.

For the past few years, major highways in Canada have electric signs installed. These signs are used for traffic information and in the slow traffic hours they are used for educational purposes. If these signs are used for education about truck more frequent, it can be a great resource as well.
